Description:
In this meaningful workshop led by Haida Artist/Weaver Todd Giihlgiigaa, create a cedar bracelet representing non-violence and anti-bullying. The session includes teachings on the history and significance of Cedar Bark Weaving and Todd's personal life stories. Come learn, create, and take part in a shared commitment to reconciliation and respect.

Connecting Indigenous Peoples to Parks and Recreation

You’re invited to join the Vancouver Park Board on April 9 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm for a gathering to learn about the services, opportunities, programs & resources available to Indigenous peoples through the Parks and Recreation system.  

The Arts, Reconciliation and Culture Department of Park Board is hosting this gathering at Roundhouse Community Centre, located at 181 Roundhouse Mews in Yaletown.

First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples can drop-in and connect with staff from a variety of Park Board departments while enjoying some snacks and refreshments

Folks will learn about the Fieldhouse Activation Program, Ceremonial Fires, Parks Activation, the Neighborhood Matching Fund, Indigenous-led Community Gardens, programs at Community Centres for Indigenous people, how to host events in parks, the Medicine Wheel at Van Dusen Gardens and so much more!

Come by and enjoy refreshments, opportunities to mix and mingle with Park Board staff and other members of the Indigenous community, presentations about services as well as info booths of programs/services and door prizes!

Please register in advance if you are able to join us – RSVPs help us plan for catering.  Everyone is welcome to drop-in anytime April 9, 2:00pm to 6:00pm.

My Apologies, but Thursday, April 9th Public Weaving Evening has been cancelled because I will be attending an event "Connecting Indigenous Peoples to Parks and Recreation" Hosted by City of Vancouver and Vancouver Parks Board at the Roundhouse Community Center (see https://giihlgiigaaweaver.blogspot.com/2026/04/connecting-indigenous-peoples-to-parks.html) for more information.
